What is a Work Development Order?
A Work Development Order allows eligible individuals with NSW fines to reduce their fines by participating in approved activities, including medical and mental health treatment delivered under a health professional’s treatment plan. While a WDO is active, enforcement action on included fines is generally paused, reducing risks such as license suspension or wage recovery.
Who may be eligible?
Individuals with NSW fines who are experiencing one or more of the following may be eligible:
Mental illness
Intellectual disability or cognitive impairment
Drug or alcohol dependence
Acute economic hardship
Eligibility is assessed by the WDO sponsor, with Revenue NSW relying on the sponsor’s assessment at the time of application.
Treatment costs
The WDO does not fund or subside treatment. Regular session fees apply.
